Mommy-Daughter NotD

Happy Friday! So, I finally used that topper with the mylar flakes! I used it over SinfulColors Cotton Candy because I'm not prone to using that bright of a pink. The L.A. Colors definitely darkened it up and I thought it was very pretty. It has a pink tinted base with iridescent mylar shreds and iridescent glitter. I love it.

Look at the Pretty Mylar Flakes!

I think I need to try it over black next time, because the iridescence was very subtle, but this was also only one coat. Also, some of the larger shreds did stick up a little. I don't know if a second layer of topcoat would help that or not, but it wasn't unbearable to me.

Finally, my daughter wanted to wear textured polish. She called it the "bumpy polish." She chose JulieG Tangerine Dream and Hot Cinnamon from the Frosted Gumdrops collection. Despite the caption, she actually asked me to take a picture of her nails. (^_^)

Ugh, Mom, I'm trying to color here.

Alrighty, I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. There's a food truck war going on in my town that we might hit up. If we do, there might be some extra non-polish pics in the next post. (^_~)y Peace.

Mint Mani for Talia Joy

I know I'm late, but one day isn't enough to honor such a brave girl anyway. So, here is my mint mani for Talia. I saw some Sally Hansen Sugar Coat colors on sale at Target and thought Sour Apple would be perfect.

I mixed brands of textured polish for a shimmery, pastel dotticure. The dots are both JulieG Frosted Gumdrops polishes in Blueberry Fizz and Crushed Candy. The colors seemed to embrace youthfulness. Together with the sparkle in the Frosted Gumdrops, I hoped it would be a good representation. No matter your age, you can shine bright and leave a mark.

For those of you who don't know, I lost my sister to cancer. So, this post is for anyone who's lost someone or knows someone fighting. My heart and prayers go out to you.

Holo Croc Nails

Hi-dee-ho, neighbors! (Brownie points if you know the reference. Hehe.) Just a quick nail of the day post. I thought I'd try some stamping with holo polish. Did these crocodile nails with Wet n Wild - Ebony Hates Chris and stamped with Color Club - Over the Moon. Yes, blue not green. I was just having fun. I used Bundle Monster paste BM-224.

Yeah, so that's about it. Haha. I actually had a nice busy weekend. Dinner and drinks with some new friends, then my nephew's birthday today. After a late night I wish I could have slept in or at least gotten a nap, but alas that didn't happen. It was totally worth it, of course, but I dread starting the work week already behind on sleep. Anyone else think like this, or am I just getting old? Lol.

Well, that's it. I hope you all had a great weekend and have a great week. Later, Lovelies. ^_^

Mary Kay VoxBox from Influenster

Ermahgerd, guys! I'm stoked to share my second VoxBox today. I got the Mary Kay box and it was full of beauty goodies! There was a lipstick in Rose Cherie, a mascara primer, mascara, and a cream eyeshadow in Violet Storm. I love purple so this was my fave.

When I first tried the lipstick, my initial reaction was, it's... pink. I didn't think it went with my skin tone, but after a blot on a tissue it wasn't bad at all! It was sheer enough to neutralize and I was glad I didn't give up on it. It's full of moisture and I think the more I use it, the more it grows on me. For those with neutral or cool skin tones, it should be fine. It's a pretty rose pink that's not too bright.

Sorry for the red eyes in the first "without primer" pic. My contacts were irritating me that day. The mascara, however wasn't. It's labeled as approved for contact wearers. Funny, because I never would have thought about it. So, that's a plus already! I have rather full lashes naturally (i didn't use anything on my bottom lashes), so I can't say how it does on that end, but boy does it lengthen! I'm more of an au naturel type, so even when glamming it up, false lashes aren't my thing. The primer also says it can be used alone for a natural look.

I'm also using the cream eyeshadow in these pics. I paired it with a gold color I already had. It wears great, lasts all day, and doesn't crease. I will be using this all. the. time. Haha.

Lastly, here are 3 looks using the Mary Kay products. The first is the shadow and mascara only. Second is the all the products I received. Notice the pink lips. This is before blotting to show the true color. Last is just the primer and lipstick, blotted, for a more natural look.

So my overall thoughts are that I love all of these products. I hope you all will give them a try. If you do, let me know how you like them. Thanks for stopping by!

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
