Hehehe! ^_^

Well, it all started when a bracelet someone had made for my husband, Gil, broke. I told him I could remake it, which lead to me teaching him macrame. Gil has always complained about the lack of variety in men's accessories. It's either bling, the puka shell beach look, or a metallic/rocker style. So, making his own was the logical thing to do. Well, he's since expanded from macrame, and has proven to have a great eye. Take a look.
I know it's been a while, but today I have a review for you all. I received the Dessange VoxBox from Influenster. There were actually 2 different collections available, the Oleo Miracle Replenishing and the California Blonde. I received the Oleo Miracle collection.

Dessange VoxBox

I don't know about you, but when I see the claims that some products make, I get a little skeptical. "Salon quality" for one, and any product adding "Paris" to the name always makes me wonder about the validity. Luckily for me, I have a friend in France and I asked her about Dessange. She confirmed that it's a well known, quality product. Step 1 of eliminating my skepticism complete!

Another thing I've been leery of is putting oils in my hair. How can an oil possibly NOT leave my hair looking greasy or building up residue? Actually, I don't wash my hair every day, so I was especially worried about needing to because of the oil. Well, I had no such problems! Consider this skeptic won over.

2 Days Later - No Build-Up

As a matter of fact, everyone in my household has been using the oil. I used it for my daughter's hair because her bath is usually late and requires me to blow-dry her hair. I hate using heat on her hair because she has really fine hair. I worry the heat will damage it. I've actually thought her hair looked dry, lately. So, this has been a welcome addition to our routine and is working great. I will be buying this one.

My husband has dreadlocks and was making his own oil concoctions to treat his hair and scalp. He tried the oil a couple times himself and says it's not bad. Coming from him, that's positive feedback. ^_^ He takes pride in having clean, healthy looking locs and I'd say he's accomplished that.

As for the shampoo, it seems a little runny. My initial thought was that it's because of the oils, so no big deal. But I have super thick hair, and this shampoo doesn't suds up the way other shampoos do. I feel that I can't get the deep clean I need for my hair. It smells nice and I like the results, but at this price point, it's not for me.

In contrast to the shampoo, the conditioner is super thick. You know how you squeeze the conditioner into your hand and it sort of smooths out into a shapeless blob? Not this stuff. It's so thick that it keeps is shape. And it comes out in a swirl, so it looks like you're holding a mini soft-serve. Hahaha! That's what I call a quality conditioner. Again, though, my hair is so thick, that I'd go through this bottle in no time. But, if I like the results enough when I finish it, I might actually buy it again.

If I were to give a star rating it would be:
Shampoo - 3 out of 5
Conditioner - 4 out of 5
Oil - 5 out of 5

If you've tried any of these, I'd love to hear what you think. Leave me a comment below. If you'd like to join Influenster, here's my referral link: www.influenster.com/r/191699
It's not hard to convince someone with sweets, but what about savory snacks? I realized early that if I told them what it was, they would be less likely to try it. However, if they tried it first and liked it, they wouldn't mind as much. But if they don't like it, the reactions are priceless!

So, I decided to try this with my co-workers. I know some picky eaters, but are they adventurous enough to go in blind and try my mystery snack? Some did, others just had to know. Watch all their reactions here:
An easy way to get a noticeable result is to use different types of polish.

For this mani I used Julep Paula as a base. If you're a purple/blurple lover, you'll love this. It's probably one of my all-time faves. It is SO gorgeous! For the tips, I used Sinful Colors Blue Persuasion. It's very similar in color, but it's textured. Since I did the tips freehand, they were far from perfect. So, I added a stripe of silver. I was hoping it would hide my messy lines, but alas, I need more practice with my striping brush too. Hahaha! I used Sally Hansen Color Foil in Sterling Silver for the stripe.
Sorry, I know the pics suck, but I was originally supposed to pick up my half-brother from the airport that morning. As a matter of fact, the 2nd pic was taken while sitting at a Starbucks waiting. It was my first time meeting my half-brother and the first time he & my dad have seen each other in 37 years! It was such a happy week for our family. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and have a blessed new year! xoxo ~Tabi
I took the comfortable route, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Seriously, though, there's nothing wrong with wanting to be able to walk around at a party without having to take your shoes off. You wouldn't believe how many women were carrying theirs by the end of the night. Bonus: I can wear these over and over again. They work great with jeans and would look adorable with shorts, too.
Haha. I have a friend, Jenniffer, who is moving overseas to teach English and I wanted to give her a farewell present that I know she'd love. So, when I stumbled across THIS POST from Accio Lacquer, I knew this was it!

Jenn loves dragons. I mean... LOVES. And sure, I could just buy her dragon stuff, but that's too easy. This had to be something more special than that, because who knows when we'll see each other again. And while these are technically dragon eggs, I'm pretty sure she's gonna flail hard when she sees them. ^_^

Unfortunately, like I said earlier, this project took way more time than I anticipated. I was so rushed to get her package out, that I not only didn't put a card in it, I didn't even put a NOTE! *lame* So, this post will also serve as a farewell letter, but I'll put that at the end so you all don't have to read it if you don't want to.

I wanted to make the eggs special somehow, and I went back and forth a couple times until I settled on an elemental theme. So, I made four eggs loosely representing Earth, Air, Fire, & Water. Here they are:

Choosing the nail polish was the hardest part, the rest was just time. Seriously, I originally made the Air egg light blue, but it stuck out like a sore thumb. So, I had to redo it completely. I'm glad I did, though. It ended up being my favorite one. >_<

So, that's what I've been up to for the past couple months. It's an easy craft with a really cool end result. If know some dragon lovers it's a great gift idea, too! If you try it I'd love to see yours. I'm Lacque Enthusiasm on Facebook and tabi_maya on Twitter and IG. I hope you all have an awesome weekend!
Jenn,
Who would have known we'd end up such good friends. I still remember when I first started following you on tumblr and thinking, "She someone I'd like to know." You lived a life so different from anything I've ever known. Single, city girl, world traveler vs married mom. Ok, that's being extreme, but you know. You've seen where I live. LOL! If it wasn't for OOR... well, who knows. And now you're off to start a new journey that will lead you to your dreams, and some of mine. Totally jealous. ^_~ I wish you all the best, and honestly can't wait to visit you. I hope you love your gift and have an amazing time with the girls. Wish I was there.

Hi guys! So, I received the Influenster TLC VoxBox a while back. It came packed full of great, useful goodies for moms and families. There was a bar of Ivory soap, Neo to Go, Puffs tissues, a Shell Fuel Rewards Card, a coupon for a FREE Breyers Gelato Indulgences, and Avon Anew Wrinkle Smoother.

I'm thankful that I haven't had to use the nifty Neo to Go yet. But the design is small and spill/leak-proof so you can toss it in your purse to always have with you. Same with the tissues. I've used the Kleenex packs to, but the Puffs packaging is way better. It opens on the narrow end and they don't pull the next tissue out with it, unlike the Kleenex packaging.
Ok, can we talk about Avon's wrinkle smoother? Holy smokes! I've been really self-conscious about my forehead wrinkles for a while now. I'm a very expressive person and constantly lifting my eyebrows and such. By the end of the day I hate to look at how much more exaggerated they are. But look at the incredible results in my picture (click to enlarge). This is a product line that I'll remember for any future wrinkles to come, for sure!

Ok, on to the gelato. Cuz, let's face it, we all love sweet indulgences, right? I chose the Triple Chocolate. Can I tell you, this was so smooth and silky! I was so surprised that a mass produced product would be so good. I've had another brand and it didn't seem much different than their ice cream. So, this is a MUST try. I'll definitely be trying the other flavors!

Finally, I have to tell you about the Shell Fuel Rewards Card. I've never used a fuel rewards program, but I wish I had been. I mean, unless you take a train or bus everywhere, you're driving on a daily basis, right? So, why not save? You can earn rewards in a ton of ways, shopping and dining at places you already go to. It's simple to sign up. You can use my referral link below!
Hopefully, you all will be able to enjoy some relaxation this summer. I've been so unexpectedly busy and June doesn't look like it's going to slow down any. But I did finally manage to get my Zoya Tickled & Bubbly swatches for you all.

All of the polishes were the great formula you come to expect from Zoya. Full coverage in two coats for all the creams except the light pink, Kitridge. It streaked but was fine with a third coat. And I know a lot of people don't like visible nail line, but these glitters have so much shimmer and shine, that it won't even bother you. I actually think it suits the lighter, breezy clothes of summer perfectly. All the glitters are two coats as well.

So, all the colors are absolutely gorgeous, but my favorite combination had to be Wendy topped with it's coordinating glitter, Alma. Alma looks like a light orange on it's own, but over Wendy...WOW! It just made the most gorgeous combination! I think it looks like a sparkling peach-colored champagne... just delicious! Hehe.

Ok, now for the photos. I've got 3 sets for each color. The cream and glitter on their own, the cream on its own and topped with the glitter, and then the glitter as a topper and on it's own. I just really wanted to show comparisons on all the ways you could wear these and the difference in color depending on how you wear them. Enjoy!
All polishes are 2 coats with top coat. Gorgeous shades that can wear right into summer. The stand-out, to me is probably Miami Beach. I don't know how to describe it. It's color ranges from coral to watermelon depending on the light. But not like some of the light corals that are out there. Dark, rich coral. Absolutely eye-catching and not for the anyone afraid of a nice pop of color.
If you've gotten this collection I'm sure you're enjoying the fun, bright colors. I sure am. So, that's all for today. I'll be back soon with a new collection. Til then... xoxo ~ TabiAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18200659522033695527noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1215900545492381427.post-27913038296019837642014-04-30T11:39:00.001-04:002014-04-30T11:39:59.731-04:00JulieG Santorini Plus Nail ArtHiya! Today is JulieG Santorini from the Cruise Collection. I love periwinkle colors so much, and this one doesn't disappoint in the least. There is a very faint shimmer that you can't really see on the nail, but you can catch it in the bottle. One thing I have to say about these polishes is they are super shiny even without topcoat. This one wasn't even thick like the others. Actually, it seems the 3 in this box were fine. Must have been a fluke, because this one is the quality I'm used to. Ok, on to the pics!

I decided to try a little dry-brush nail art. It was my first attempt and is obviously not that great, but I thought the idea was cute. It was a little busy, though. So, I thought well how about with a solid accent nail? Or AS and accent nail? And there you have it. Hehe.
Isn't the color just stunning in the sun? With the bright blue and glitter it feels like something from the 80s... or perhaps Carnaval? Hehe. The Maybelline Beaming Blue is OVERLOADED with glitter. Like, to the point that I don't really like using it. The colors in the collection were pretty and I got 3 of them, but they're really only useable over a base color. On their own, it's a clumpy mess.

So, what do you think so far? Have you gotten the JulieG Cruise collection? Do you think you will? There's more to come, so stay tuned! ^_^ Later, lovlies! I know, I know. I said in the last post that I was back, but I'm for real this time. I think. Haha. So let's just jump right in, shall we? I ordered the JulieG/Jesse's Girl Cruise Collection from Groupon. While I love the colors, I think I got a faulty batch. It's a little thick so I can't use thin coats. What I had to do was be generous and remove the excess otherwise it wouldn't apply smoothly. I have other JulieG polishes and have never had this problem. So, I don't know if it's their fault or perhaps Groupon's. Either way, I still absolutely adore the colors. Especially this first one I'm showing you.
JulieG Tahiti is not only a gorgeous springy/minty green, it also has a hint of glass fleck shimmer. There are so many shades of spring/mint green out there and most of them are cream. So, the shimmer really makes this polish. I tried to show it in a few different lights and then decided to do some simple nail art too. I used Sinful Colors Blue Persuasion for a simple tape mani. It's probably one of my favorite textured polishes. I just LOVE blue-violet colors.

So, that's all for now. I'm just getting back in the swing of things, so hopefully I'll be posting more regularly soon. Thanks to all of you lovelies who have stuck with me. Do you ever feel like you really got your life together? I can't believe I'm actually posting again so soon! I mean, I've just got so much going on lately it's kind of a miracle. But I know it won't last long. Something, somewhere, will fall by the wayside as I get back into nail blogging. I hope not, but you guys probably know what I'm talking about. Something's gotta give, right? Haha!

So, today I have L'Oreal Hidden Gems. This is another I picked up over Thanksgiving. It is SO gorgeous in the bottle (which of course my thoughtless self didn't take a picture of. OOPS!), that I couldn't pass it up. A textured duo-chrome?! I had a feeling it wasn't going to show up as strong on the nail, but it was still such a pretty color. You can click on the images for a closer view.
I tried to catch the pretty purple color hidden in there the best I could. I've seen some other bloggers catch it beautifully. I showed two nails with topcoat thinking maybe the duo-chrome would show more. Nope. Less, actually. But while it's not obvious, it definitely adds depth and dimension. I love this polish so much. For some reason, it reminds me of Starry Night by Van Gogh.

As for formula, the texture is great and this is only two coats, but in the sunlight you may notice that two coats isn't quite completely opaque. Also, the wear wasn't as good as the Sinful Colors textured polish in my last review. I had noticeable tip wear the next day.

Overall, I love the color, depth, and texture and I'm glad to have it in my collection. But for the price and size of the bottle, I probably wouldn't get another unless I knew the formula improved.

Do you have any of the L'Oreal textures? What do you think of them? Finally a New Post?!Ermahgerd, I'm so so so sorry, guys. I have been SO very distracted with the holidays and life in general that I honestly haven't even been painting my nails. BUT! I finally got around to it this week. Yeah, I can't believe it either. (^_^;)

So, like every year, we went to VA for Thanksgiving to spend it with my husband's family. And of course, since we don't have Rite-Aid in FL, I had to make a stop. Right? Well, I ended up picking up way more polish than I ever purchase at once. So, be expecting more posts to come.

First up, Sinful Colors Blue Persuasion. It's a gorgeous blurple textured polish with purple glitter. You guys don't even understand!!! Blurples are my ultimate fave shades. So, of course I'm dying all over the place. Yes, it's that good. If you like blurples, anyway. (^_^)
So, just to get back into the swing of things, I'll keep this short. Great coverage in 2 coats and excellent texture. Also, great wear for no topcoat. I know I'm not like most polish addicts, cuz I'm too logical to spend too much for one polish. But when can get such great quality for so cheap, why should I? Well, indies don't count, cuz they're fabulously unique and doing things big brands won't. But we all know that.

And that's it! Again, I'm sorry I've been M.I.A. Thanks for sticking around. Hope everyone had an amazing holiday season and hope your new year is off to a great start. So, I received the Active Series VoxBox from Influenster, which contained the Dr. Scholls Active Series Gel Insoles. This couldn't have come at a more perfect time.

I've been going to the gym pretty regularly for a few months now, but have gotten almost no results. The biggest problem was, being overweight, I have a lot of pain in my feet. Running? Forget about it! Jumping? HA!

My husband has this thing he likes to do to tease me. He's 6'2" while I'm 5'1". So, when he wants a high five from me, he sticks his arm straight up and makes me jump. He thinks it's cute because I'm so short and accomplishing such a feat takes such a huge effort.

But that's just one jump. Jump roping? I wouldn't have even considered it. However, after using the inserts the first day and finding them extremely comfortable, I decided to push my workout to the next level. Today, I jumped rope with not a hint of pain. The first use was on the treadmill. I jogged for longer than I thought I would be able to, and with no foot or shin pain. I was seriously surprised. I honestly didn't think they would be that effective! Of course just using muscles I wasn't used too caused soreness, but that's to be expected.

So, if you're an insole skeptic, or if you're a runner/jogger and/or exercise regularly and have pain in your feet or shins, definitely try these. I'm looking forward to the results of my new more intense workouts and will keep you all updated.

From what I've checked, the prices run from around $19-$25 depending on where you buy them and what your shoe size is. I hope this post has been helpful. Let me know if you try them and what you think. Talk to you all later!
I've just had so much going on lately. Besides family matters, well no...it's pretty much all family matters. Haha! From late Aug. to mid Oct. we've got 7 family birthdays, my hubby's and my anniversary, a baby shower along with everyday things, and the fact that my daughter and I were sick last week. I don't know which way is up anymore. But I finally got this review done!

Huge apology to Bree at Mrs. P's Nail Potions. Thank you for being so patient and understanding.

So, let's jump right in. This is a pic heavy post containing 4 polishes and a scented top coat from the Fall 2013 Collection from Mrs. P's Nail Potions. You can find her on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Etsy.

***Disclaimer: I received these polishes for my honest review. All opinions are my own and were in no way influenced.***

I didn't take a pic of the scented top coat, because there wasn't really anything to show. There is however plenty to say! The scent is Pumpkin Chai and it's a LIMITED scent that is only available until the end of October. If you love Autumn, pumpkin, and/or chai/spice scents, I highly recommend you get your hands on this. I cannot tell you how amazing this smells.

Opening the bottle you can't smell anything besides the polish, but once it's dry it smells so delicious that you'll want to eat your fingers. It lasts for days, but the scent does start to fade by day 3. Even though this is limited, she sells a bunch of other scented top coats in scents like Apple Cinnamon, Lemon, Chocolate Fudge and more. The best part is, since they're top coats, you can wear them over any color unlike scented polishes.

Okay, now for the pic spam. All pictures can be clicked to enlarge.

From the site: "Fawning For You is a highly pigmented soft neutral beige lacquer with a slight creme finish and a subtle gold/metallic shimmer." I'll be honest and say, I didn't think I'd like this color. But it has a peachy undertone which is very pretty. While I'm not a huge fan of metallics, this came off as more pearlescent to me. I think it's a very classy color

"Bordeaux Crossing is a highly pigmented shimmery almost brick red lacquer." You can see the "brick red" color in the undertones, but the metallic shimmer almost has a red-violet hue and is very pretty. I don't wear this kind of shade often, but it would be very pretty for a special occasion.

"Fall Deeply is a highly pigmented auburn brown lacquer with lots of multicolored shimmer (mainly blue, green and purple)." This polish is beautiful! I could only really see green shimmer, but that was perfect in my opinion. It made me think of the changing leaves of Fall. Very unique and perfect for the season. This was my favorite of the four colors I received.

"Lean, Mean & Aubergine is a highly pigmented deep brownish purple with beautiful purple shimmer." This was my second favorite. Not only is the color lovely, but the quality is fabulous. I wore this for 3 days without a topcoat and had no chipping, only minimal tip wear.

All of the polishes have an excellent formula. They are highly pigmented and are almost one
coaters, but you don't quite get the full richness of the color in one
coat. There was some streaking with the lighter colors, but that's to be expected with shimmer and metallic polishes. The streaking is less prevalent in the darker the colors.
Other than that, I had no problems with any of these polishes. Great coverage and quality.

There are four more colors in the collection and they are beautiful jewel-toned purple, green, blue, and dark pink. Definitely check them out!

So, I hope you all are having a wonderful week. I apologize again for the absence. If you have any questions about any of these polishes, feel free to ask.
First up, Pop. From the site: "Pop contains hot pink and black matte glitter in circles and hexes in a clear base." This glitter topper is so fun. I love the matte circle glitters. It screams 80s pop art. I think this would be great over most cream colors. Something I noticed was these glitter toppers dry really fast! I had just finished my second coat of Pop when my daughter asked for help with something. I was worried I had dinged my mani, but it was already dry! Bonus! There was no fishing, but as with any glitter, some placement was necessary. This is 2 coats and topcoat.

"Squish contains black, gunmetal silver, and red glitter in hexes and bars." This was my least favorite in the collection, but that is just my personal taste. This is 2 coats with topcoat. No problems, quick dry time. The bar glitters make me think of pom poms for some reason. Thus, Squish would be great for any fans of sports teams with red and black team colors. Also reminds me of 101 Dalmatians. ^_^
"Six contains six different kinds of metallic glitter in a clear base, in green, purple, and blue!" If two's company then Six is a party! Three of my favorite colors in two different sizes. On my pinky is 3 coats on it's own. The rest of the nails have 2 coats over black, all with topcoat. This is very pretty and sparkly. No issues, great dry time.
"Uh-Uh is a purplish/magenta color with a beautiful shimmer." I would describe it as raspberry, but either way, it's beautiful. The first coat was a little streaky, but not terrible. The second coat fixed everything. This is 2 coats with no topcoat. This is a great shimmer that can be worn anytime.
Cicero is described as "...a deep purple shimmer with coppery flakies" but the flakies come off more pink in my opinion. It really lightens the polish up and it actually wears lighter than shown here. This is 2 coats with topcoat. The first coat was streaky and pulled a little, but the second coat smoothed everything out just fine. The color is gorgeous. I absolutely love purples and this is no exception.
"Lipschitz is a lovely medium green shimmer and tiny charcoal-colored flakies." Lovely indeed! The blue shimmer really lightens up this polish and almost gives it a jade tone. The charcoal flakies, I think, add to that jade/stone feel. It's a really unique color and if you like green, I highly recommend this one. Possible one coater, but two for best results. This is 2 coats with topcoat.
Today, I have another tape mani but with brighter, higher contrasting colors. I had seen swatches of Urban Outfitters Flip Flop and absolutely loved it. It's the perfect aqua color. Not too minty, not too blue or green. Even though I've had mixed results with their polish in the past, I knew I wanted this. I also picked up Bandeau and a couple others that you'll see when I use them. So first, Flip Flop.
I have no idea why my skin looks so discolored. Anywho, if it weren't for the crooked design on my middle finger, I would have absolutely loved it. I think the silhouette has a very eastern feel. Like, maybe Moroccan or Indian? I should do it again with red and gold. Hehe.

Julep Bare Face Cleansing Oil

I know that oil is a bit taboo in American skincare and cosmetics, but I think there's some misconceptions about it. I know that cleansing and facial oils have been popular in Japan for quite some time. And let's face it, they have fabulous skincare and well...skin! I also read an article that said "oil-free" cosmetics and skincare aren't oil-free at all. They're only free of natural oils, but often contain synthetic oils, which can be even worse for your skin.

So, with all that in mind, I thought I'd try it. Lord knows my skin has been on the fritz lately. Anyway, I've been using it for about a week and I really like it. It has a refreshing citrus scent. The instructions say to use a generous amount. I've been using it before bed and use 3 pumps. It rinses off easily with no residue and in the morning I have no excess oil on my face. I hope to see some nice improvements in my skin by the end of the bottle. If so, I'll definitely buy it again.

On to the polish. This box contained two polishes: Kristy, a deep midnight blue, and Tatiana, an orange shimmer.
I picked this box for Kristy. I thought it looked very pretty on Julep's site. Well...(insert deep sigh here), you can imagine my disappointment when I find that it's a thick, gloppy, stringy mess. Now, not everyone's was. I asked someone else who got the same box and theirs was fine. Just my luck, I guess. So, I don't know if it was because I got one from a bad batch or not, but it was also darker than I expected. I know my pics may not be the greatest quality, but even in real life you could almost never tell that it was blue. You can see that it's blue around the cuticles and tips, but that's about it.

One more thing that came in the box was a sample of their nail polish remover wipes. It was a single wipe in a pack like a wet nap. The wipe itself was really thick, almost like a piece of felt. This held a lot of acetone. If the wipe had been a little bigger I could have done all 10 fingers with one single wipe, and I'm used it to remove Kristy! So, if you're the type who hates to walk around with chipped polish, these will be super convenient.

So, that's it! I really hope Julep improves their consistency. I really like the variety of polish they offer, but it's always hit or miss quality. Have any of you had problems with Julep polish before? What do you think of these colors? Do you think you'd try an oil facial cleanser? Do you think they'll catch on they way bb cream did? I hope so. I'd love to try different ones without blowing my budget.

Well, I hope you all are having a great week. Thanks for reading! ^_^

And welcome to all my new readers. I'm sorry I haven't had anything new up. I was sick last week. I don't have any nail art to show today, but I do have 2 very pretty polishes.

First is China Glaze Secret Peri-winkle topped with KleanColor Aurora.

China Glaze Secret Peri-winkle & KleanColor Aurora

I love KleanColors but I hate the dry time. I really want all the chunky holo polishes they have, but if I'm just going to be annoyed every time I use them, it's not really worth it to me. (-_-)

Next is the gorgeous JulieG Mermaids Tale. This is a teal foil finish in a blue base. This is one of those polishes that you just need in your collection. I was at the gym staring at my nails in between workouts. People probably thought I was a space case. Haha. Oh well!

First, the Prizes! Because we all know that's what we're really here for. (^_~)

I've tried to give some examples of how versatile the scissors can be. I'm sure you creative types can find even more ways. Be sure to share if you do!

EDIT: I also got the black for myself. All prizes are new. This pattern is also slightly different than the scissors shown. I used my own, but they didn't have the same ones when buying for my giveaway. They're very similar though.

I would suggest using masking tape because it's easier to cut with these kinds of scissors. Or you could fold scotch tape in half so its thicker and easier to cut. You would have to leave the ends apart so you can pull it apart again. This will also give you longer strips which you can cut to fit each nail or for multiple stripes on one nail. It will save time and give you consistent thickness.

As you can see, the Leather Luxe polishes are matte. With only one layer of topcoat they have a finished leather look, but aren't quite as shiny as regular polish unless you add another coat. I bought Get It On for myself because I don't really wear or have many red polishes. I thought this would be a one I would actually use.

So, that's it. Sorry, but this giveaway is U.S. only. However, I plan to do another giveaway for my 1-year blogiversary and hopefully I'll have something for my international followers in that one.

Thank you all so much for all the support you've given me so far. There have been many times that I considered giving up on the blog, but you all kept encouraging me. I wouldn't have made it this far without you. So, even though it's really small, I wanted to do this to show my appreciation for all of you. XOXO
Hope everyone's week started off well. Today, I have some easy but cute nail art. I used Urban Outfitters Slime and Sinful Colors Cream Pink. It's called cream, but it has a pretty little shimmer. As for Slime, I'm pretty sure I mentioned it in a previous post, but the formula sucks. Streaky on the first coat, pulls on the second, and chips so easily. As a matter of fact, you'll see in my pictures that I have a chip on the index finger. How? Well, I painted them late Saturday night so I thought I'd wait until morning for pics in the sunlight. A simple shower (meaning no hair washing) and BOOM! Chip. Yeah. Anywho! On to the pics! ^_^
So, indirect, direct, and alternate view with a guest appearance by my dog. Haha. I really do love the color of slime. It's a shame that I dread ever using it.

I free-handed the half moon and used a dotting tool for the dots. I dipped once for each nail so the dots got slightly smaller from base to tip. And that's it! I hope you like. Have a fabulous week!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18200659522033695527noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1215900545492381427.post-29616583281568134422013-08-02T12:22:00.002-04:002013-08-02T12:22:38.315-04:00Mini Haul with SwatchesHello and Happy Friday! So, I rarely go to Walmart because we live kind of far, but we went last week and I found a few beauties. So let's get right to it! I did collages so this wasn't a total pic spam. First, bottle shots and names, in order, Salon Perfect Bermuda Baby is a GORGEOUS aqua with a very hard to capture pink-ish shimmer that combined with the base color comes off as a little violet.

Salon Perfect Bermuda Baby

Next up is Wet n Wild Eggplant Frost. Perfect name. Absolutely has that red-violet base with the blue shimmer that makes it look like a shimmery eggplant. Very pretty.

Wet n Wild Eggplant Frost

Finally, Pure Ice Heartbreaker. I almost got this one before, but passed on it. Well, I couldn't pass it up twice. It's just so fabulous in the bottle. Totally reminds me of an iceberg. But since it's really sheer and more of a topper, that won't translate to my nails. It was still beautiful though. I don't think my pictures even do it justice. I do plan on trying it over a few more colors though.

Pure Ice Heartbreaker

Shall we get to the nails? First, I have to apologize for some stained cuticles. We all know how dark colors can do that. Okay, here's Bermuda Baby. Surprise! It's a matte! I totally didn't expect that, but I love it. This is 2 thin coats. There's a little visible nail line, but not enough to bother me. The dry time was great! In the two bottom pics you can kind of see the color shift on the pinky.

It's just as pretty, if not more, with a topcoat. Again, I tried to show the color shift since the shimmer was hard to pic up. So, you can see the pic on the left has that violet hue while the right is a bright aqua. I haven't been this pleased with a polish purchase in a long time. You ladies know the feeling of disappointment that I'm talking about. Well, this won't do that!

Next is Eggplant Frost. I tend to paint my nails rather late, so I didn't think about showing this with a matte finish. I'll try to remember the next time I wear it, but how pretty is that shimmer?

Here it is, Heartbreaker, and boy is it! I'm actually still wearing this mani from three days ago because it's so freaking pretty! So, this is one generous coat over black and Pure Ice French Kiss which is such a pretty blue on it's own. Over black it gives the typical green shimmer that other effect toppers do, but over the blue...oh man! It's like gazing out over deep blue tropical waters with the sun sparkling on the surface. Seriously, it's so pretty that the first day I was wearing it, I kept getting distracted. During work, at the gym. I probably looked like a total airhead. Haha! Like I said, it's so pretty over the blue that I have to try it over some other colors.

Here it is with a matte finish. Still pretty, but definitely better with shine. This is also, obviously, the mani with stained cuticles. SORRY! Hopefully, the polish is enough of a distraction. (^_^;) Eheh.

Well, we've reached the end of this mini haul journey. If you've been pondering any of these, I hope I helped you make a decision. If these weren't even on your radar, I hope they are now! Alright, have a good weekend!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18200659522033695527noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1215900545492381427.post-74832216929483253622013-07-26T12:14:00.002-04:002013-07-26T12:14:39.558-04:00Mommy-Daughter NotD

Happy Friday! So, I finally used that topper with the mylar flakes! I used it over SinfulColors Cotton Candy because I'm not prone to using that bright of a pink. The L.A. Colors definitely darkened it up and I thought it was very pretty. It has a pink tinted base with iridescent mylar shreds and iridescent glitter. I love it.

I think I need to try it over black next time, because the iridescence was very subtle, but this was also only one coat. Also, some of the larger shreds did stick up a little. I don't know if a second layer of topcoat would help that or not, but it wasn't unbearable to me.

Finally, my daughter wanted to wear textured polish. She called it the "bumpy polish." She chose JulieG Tangerine Dream and Hot Cinnamon from the Frosted Gumdrops collection. Despite the caption, she actually asked me to take a picture of her nails. (^_^)

Alrighty, I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. There's a food truck war going on in my town that we might hit up. If we do, there might be some extra non-polish pics in the next post. (^_~)y Peace.

So, here is my mint mani for Talia. I saw some Sally Hansen Sugar Coat colors on sale at Target and thought Sour Apple would be perfect.

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat in Sour Apple

I mixed brands of textured polish for a shimmery, pastel dotticure. The dots are both JulieG Frosted Gumdrops polishes in Blueberry Fizz and Crushed Candy. The colors seemed to embrace youthfulness. Together with the sparkle in the Frosted Gumdrops, I hoped it would be a good representation. No matter your age, you can shine bright and leave a mark.
