I'm Alive! Finally a New Post?!

Ermahgerd, I'm so so so sorry, guys. I have been SO very distracted with the holidays and life in general that I honestly haven't even been painting my nails. BUT! I finally got around to it this week. Yeah, I can't believe it either. (^_^;)

So, like every year, we went to VA for Thanksgiving to spend it with my husband's family. And of course, since we don't have Rite-Aid in FL, I had to make a stop. Right? Well, I ended up picking up way more polish than I ever purchase at once. So, be expecting more posts to come.

First up, Sinful Colors Blue Persuasion. It's a gorgeous blurple textured polish with purple glitter. You guys don't even understand!!! Blurples are my ultimate fave shades. So, of course I'm dying all over the place. Yes, it's that good. If you like blurples, anyway. (^_^)

So, just to get back into the swing of things, I'll keep this short. Great coverage in 2 coats and excellent texture. Also, great wear for no topcoat. I know I'm not like most polish addicts, cuz I'm too logical to spend too much for one polish. But when can get such great quality for so cheap, why should I? Well, indies don't count, cuz they're fabulously unique and doing things big brands won't. But we all know that.

Girly Swatch

Hey everyone. I hope your week has been great thus far. If not, well, it's almost over. (^_^;) Today is just a quick swatch post of Revlon Girly. I've had this for months now and I can't believe I haven't tried it til now. The base is pretty sheer so I showed it with and without undies. The undies are Ulta Vintage Violet.

I love Vintage Violet for undies since I'm not a super pink type. This has just the right touch of a purple tone for me. What do you think?

Pardon My French

Happy Hump Day! So far this week, work has been crazy. So, I figured I'd just do a quick post of an untried I have. Pure Ice Pardon My French is a glamorous black polish full of micro and small copper hexes.

I should have also layered it over black to show the difference, but I just get so excited to paint my nails that sometimes I forget about the blogging side. (^_^;) I also think layering would have given more depth because there was SO MUCH glitter in just two coats.

The polish was a little thick, but I think that's pretty standard for glitter polishes. I think it helps suspension so the glitter doesn't settle and you don't have to fish for it. Overall, I really like this polish. The copper added a classy feel that made me think of a flapper girl for some reason. Hehe.

NotD: Shimmery Nubbins with Spunk

So, I had to cut my nails down and now have nubbins. (-_-) But who says nubbins can't be fun too? I've been wanting to use my Vivid Lacquer - The Ragdoll's Soliloquy again, and a unique glitter is a perfect and easy way to add spunk to short nails. I used one coat over two coats of Julie G - Shimmer Island, a fun lime green shimmer. So, I'll show you that first. (^_^)

As you can see, this is a very sheer polish. I don't mind a little visible nail line, but if you do, you'll want to do 3 or more coats. Good luck taking it off, though. I'm already dreading it. Haha.

This is obviously different lighting. Sorry about that. (^_^;) So, as you can see, this glitter topper is very unique. Green moons, black hearts, small gold, matte yellow (or are they sheer white and look yellow on a green background? ::shrugs::), holo periwinkle hexes, micro green and black glitter, and a slight green shimmer. I love this polish.

Here's the other hand. I didn't try to place the hearts and moons. I like the randomness. I may try next time though. I also want to try two coats instead of one, but this was from a Halloween collection and I don't know if it will ever be released again. (-_-) Oh well, we buy polish to use it, right? Haha.

NotD: Reverse Glitter Gradient

Hey hey haaay! First, I want to say thanks for stopping by to read my little ole blog. I truly appreciate it and hope you enjoy my newbie adventures in nail art. Today, I have an untried polish that I bought last month topped with a beautiful glitter that I used just last week. Have a look:

The base is Ulta Vintage Violet with a reverse glitter gradient in Sation Band Beauty. I used Band Beauty over gold for my Christmas party mani and wanted to see it over something else. I love this combo.

This was also the first reverse glitter gradient I tried and can I say clean up was a bear! LoL. Any tips for that? Also, I love the formula of Ulta's polishes. You could get away with one coat if you really wanted to.

Sorry for the shadowy pics but it was so hard to get a good shot without obscuring the pretty colors of the glitter in their own sparkle. Does that make sense? Haha.

Weekend Mani

Ahhh...the weekend. Finally! Been busy this week at work, so I haven't been as interactive with my fellow polish lovers. I hope you've all had a great week. I decided to start my weekend with a little chocolate...Ulta Chocolate Kiss, that is.

It's actually more of a coppery reddish brown, but with a butter London matte finish it did look a yummy chocolate color.

Then I added a little glitter to the tips with Ulta My Two Cents. I've never done a matte/glitter tip combo before, so I didn't think it through. The glitter base added some shine...Newbie mistake. Haha.

Of course I matted it again. I love the way it turned out. And both hands are pretty equal for once! ^_^

Nail Haul Shenanigans

So, today was a "Girl's Day" in honor of my friend's birthday. We did a late lunch then hit up all the cosmetics stores and then some. Ulta, Sephora, Dollar Tree, Sally's & Jo-Ann's. Sound like odd choices? Let's have a look:

Not a large haul, admittedly. I'm just not the type to spend a lot at once or on pricey polishes. You guys would crucify me if you only knew what isn't in my collection. (^_^;) The crystal nail file was all I got at Sephora. So, here's a closer look at some of the other items:

Ulta Army of 1

Ignore the blue thumb. I don't wanna talk about that missed opportunity. (-_-) Haha. The polish is Ulta Army of 1. It's a sage-y, army green that I think is great for Autumn.

This is Vintage Violet. It actually looks a lot more pink in person.

Chocolate Kiss...doesn't make me think of chocolate at all. But it's still pretty.

Ulta My Two Cents

My Two Cents: a beautiful copper glitter.

Micro beads from the Dollar Tree. Yes, the Dollar Tree! I picked up 3 packs. Hehe.

Some large hex, flower, heart and star glitters.

Medium hex glitters.

From Sally's, a Sally Girl mini in So 70's. I actually didn't get anything from Sally's, but my friend needed one more dollar to use her $10 off $20 coupon and let me pick this. How sweet was that?

From Jo-Ann, a fan brush. My friend showed me a technique with a fan brush that we want to try. Cosmetics stores want $20+ while this was $4 at Jo-Ann. 

I also got the brush I use for cuticle cleanup at a craft store. Let me just say, Hobby Lobby has about 20x the selection of brushes that Jo-Ann does. At the time, I almost got a brush for striping, but decided against it because I was so new to this that I didn't think I would use it right away. Now, I have to go back for it because Jo-Ann didn't have anything even remotely close. So, keep craft stores in mind. They also had a dotting tool at Jo-Ann, but it only had 2 sizes. I would like more of a variety, so I will be ordering those.

Pure Ice In the Mood & Pure Ice French Kiss

Lastly, I bought these yesterday at Walmart. In spite of knowing I was going to be polish shopping today, I just couldn't resist checking. Walmart has a great selection for us cheapos. The colors are In the Mood and French Kiss. I also noticed that my local Walmart now has the NYC matte top coat. In reviews the quality looked great and it's less than $2! I have one right now, so I didn't get it. But now that I know, I can use mine more. Haha.

NoTD: Purple & Glitter & Layers. Oh My!

Just a quick post about my mani today. I love purple so much that I intentionally try not to buy it. I'm afraid I'll just end up with a hundred purple polishes. However, I'm too good, because I barely have any. So, I decided to experiment with layering and this is what came out:

Love the shade and holo glitter. This is WnW Tickled Pink topped with Sinful Colors Hottie. Neither of these polishes are more than $1.99. I don't know about you, but I'm all about affordable. Layering is a great way to expand your collection without spending a penny!
